World War II veteran’s death condoled

Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi (Hoho) Dimapur, express shock and grief over the demise of Dovi Khate Zeliang, a veteran World War II soldier on January 31, 2011 at Medziphema town. A condolence note issued by N. Diswang Hau, secretary, Zeliangrong Baudi (Hoho), Dimapur stated that Late Dovi Khate Zeliang, hailing from Poilwa village is one of the prominent Zeliangrong elder who had participated in the II World War in 1994 and India-Pakistan 1965 war in various capacities.
“Late Dovi Khate Zeliang was also the recipient of Burma Star, three Indian Independence Award medals and had participated in the Japanese War in Manipur in 1994. He had many narrow escapes and life testimonies during the World War and even after the war, where he had also served in Assam regiment in Nagaland and Shillong. He was also jailed in Jorhat for three months and has toiled and labored with all his best capacities to give hope to the Nagas as a nation, and for our country as a whole. He was one of our pioneer and elder who stood for the reconciliation, unity and integrity of our people. He was a God-fearing man who had fought his good fight into last,” stated the note.
ZB (Hoho) through the condolence note said, “His death was a great vacuum to the Zeliangrong community. On behalf of the Zeliangrong people of Nagaland, we convey our deep condolence to the bereaved family.”
