Chakhesang Catholic Youth Association Convention held 

KOHIMA, January 11 (MExN): The Chakhesang Catholic Youth Association (CCYA) held its convention under the theme ‘Youth 4G: God, Growth, Greatness, Generosity’ from January 7-9 at Lozaphuhu village with Rev Dr George Keduolhou Angami, Principal of S. Joseph’s College, Jakhama (Autonomous) as the main celebrant.

In his homily during the Eucharistic celebration on Sunday (9 January) that commemorates the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, he spoke about the baptism of Jesus wherein he also highlighted the Trinitarian formula of baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

When we are baptised, he said that “we are baptised in Christ” while substantiating that baptism is an act of surrender to God and a rebirth in Jesus Christ. He further urged upon young people to take up the challenge of living as good, faithful Christians.

During the introductory session on Friday evening, Rev Fr Vemedo Kezo, Parish Priest of Mary Help of Christians Cathedral Parish spoke on the topic “Introduction to Sacraments” while Dr Evothung Peter Ezung, Asst Prof Economics, Kohima College Kohima was the theme speaker.

One of the highlights of the convention was a career talk show which was held on Saturday evening with Wetsho Lasushe, NCS, EAC, Phek, Vish­ü Rita Krocha, Journalist, Poet & Publisher, Rekha Rose Dukru, Entrepreneur and Rev Fr James T Sangtam, Administrator of Good Shepherd Seminary, Dimapur as resource persons.

Neingulie Michael Krome, Under Secretary to Government of Nagaland & President of Chakhesang Catholic Association was the valedictory guest. During the felicitation program, the presidential address was delivered by Dr Rosou Ronald Pohena under whose leadership the CCYA convention was held.

A new team of office bearers for the tenure 2022-2025 was also inducted with Zhovi David Zholia of St Ignatius Parish as president, Krowate Paul Puro of Sacred Heart Parish as vice president, Sekhoyi Dominic Rokha of St Andrew’s Parish as general secretary, John Swiho of St Andrew’s Parish as assistant general secretary, Derhü Dominic Pohena of St Ignatius Parish as finance secretary, Mulutalu Mary Magdalene Vese of St Mary’s Parish as Treasurer, Sutalu Ruth Dukru of Holy Family Parish as social and cultural secretary, Shekhoku Nicholas Vese of St Mary’s Parish as music secretary, Razoushekho Simon Khamo of St Mary’s Parish as statistical secretary, Dawi Shupao of Holy Family Parish as publicity and information secretary, Menutsho-u Agnes Kenye of Sacred Heart Parish and Nuvelu Dzudo of Holy Family Parish as women welfare secretary and Mudene Monica Krocha of St Ignatius Parish and Shesato Moses Hoshi of St Mary’s Parish as representatives to NCYM.
