ZB (N), NZPO oppose chakka bandh

Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi (N) and Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation on Sunday stated its opposition to the proposed indefinite ‘Chakka Bandh’ on Mhainamtsi-Pimla and Mhainamtsi -Jharnapani roads that was called on February 22 by Aqahuto Area Organisations.

“It is to be made crystal clear to everyone that there is no area called Aqahuto in the above mentioned areas within the ancestral Zeliang Naga land who shared traditional and time honoured boundary with Chakhro Angami,” it said in a joint statement on Sunday.

Stating that it had been striving to engage with inter-tribal organisations to bring about permanent trust between communities for peaceful coexistence, it expressed dismay that its efforts are being reciprocated with attempts to block both the routes of accessibility of the district “by such illegal organisations.”

Reiterating its stance on the proposed bandh, the organisations appealed the state government to intervene and avert such illegal activities on the district.

“The undersigned shall not be responsible for any consequences lest should any situation arises as the fallout,” it stated.
