Dimapur, September 30 (MExN): A team led by Parliamentary Secretary Zhaleo Rio on Saturday visited Balijan Bridge, Niuland road, which was washed away by flood on September 27. The team comprised of 5 Ghaspani II A/C office bearers, village units and authorities of Vihokhu and nearby villages.
A press release issued by Seyielhoutuo Keyho, President, 5 Ghaspani II A/C, Dimapur stated that the village authorities and NPF party workers at the site requested the Parliamentary Secretary to take up the reconstruction work of the bridge. They also requested him to provide alternative road connectivity by improving the existing alternate roads from Vihokhu village to Suhoi village junction and from Seithekiema 'C' village to Old Showuba village junction in order to have light vehicle worthy road to reach Dimapur Town for carrying out day to day work.
The Parliamentary Secretary assured that “he will present their case by calling on Chief Minister and Minister (R&B) to do whatever is possible at Government level for both temporary and permanent measures,” the release said.
It may be mentioned that the two-lane State highway through Balijan Bridge, Niuland road, is the main life line for people of Niuland sub-division and EAC administrative headquarters for Nihokhu, Aghunaka and Ralan sub-division (Wokha district).
