ZHSK holds seminar cum general session

Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The Zhavame Women Society Kohima (ZHSK) held its first one day seminar-cum-General Session on April 9 at Razeba Public Organisation Hall, Kohima with Vechisalu Nukhu, Additional Secretary, Horticulture, Government of Nagaland and Rekha Rose Dukru, Entrepreneur as the resource persons.   Speaking on the on the theme, ‘Women and Culture’ Nukhu stressed on the importance of preserving culture in this fast changing world. She also said that women should encouraged their children to cultivate the habit of speaking in their own local dialect at least at home so they do not become alien to their dialect. Nukhu further spoke on observing some traditional festivals, hard work and respect for elders.

  Dukru in her speech on “Women and Education” said that women are the best agent to spread education. Education is not only about learning to read and write, she said but more importantly “Good education facilitates the an overall development of a person that guides us through life.” With more educated women there can be more positive transformation in the society."   Earlier the President of Zhavame Union, Deo Movi in his exhortation said that women have a challenging role to play in the society and encouraged them to be active participants in building the home and the world. The new team of ZWSK headed by Ajoy Domeh was also elected, informed a press note received here.
