
Kohima, January 25 (MExN): National inauguration of Village Legal Services Clinics was held at Supreme Court with Justice P. Sathasivam, Chief Justice of India, along with the rest of the nation. Dimapur District Legal Services Authority also joined on this significant day and inaugurated Village Legal Aid Clinic/Centre at Zutovi Village.
“This is an earnest effort initiated by the National Legal Services Authority to reach out to the people in the remotest part of the Country and States,” stated a press release received here.
Veprasa Nyekha, Secretary, Dimapur District Legal Services Authority, District & Sessions Judge, Dimapur inaugurated the Zutovi Village Legal Aid Clinic. Seyielenuo Mezhii, Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Dimapur delivered keynote address where she stressed on legal aid entitlement and who can access to justice under Legal Aid Services. Atokhe Aye, SDO (Civil), Dhansaripar and Victo Assumi, Head GB, Zutovi Village also presented exhortation and welcome address. DDLSA Panel Advocates Esther K Aye and Limasenla Longkumer also spoke about Domestic Violence, Gender Equality, Para Legal Volunteers and activities of free Legal Aid Services and beneficiaries under Nagaland State Legal Services Authority.
GBs, Dobashis from around the cluster of villages, SGHs, Women Leaders and Students attended the inauguration programme.
It maybe stated here that, a total of 2,648 legal services clinics opened in villages across India on Friday in a significant step that will bring legal aid to the people's doorsteps.
