1st NE Intensive Mithun Project opens in Nagaland

The first Intensive Mithun Project in North East India has been implemented in Lerie Farm, Kohima by Nagaland Livestock Development Board (NLDB). 

The NLDB is under the State’s Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH & Vety Services) Department.The AH & Vety Services in a tweet posted on March 1 informed that the Mithun project is first in India, apart from Indian Council of Agricultural Research. 

“This project is designed keeping the priority for comfort of Mithun in natural condition and to experiment the milk production,” it said. 

Presently, the tweet added, a Mithun mother can yield upto 5 litres per day.

Meanwhile, Dr Temsumeren Ozukum has also assumed office as the Head of Department, AH & Vety. Services, Nagaland as per another tweet posted on March 1.
