CAPT KENGURUSE MEMORIAL: Vanguard, Green Club win big

It was goals galore on Monday as Vanguard FC and Green Club registered big wins in the respective quarterfinal matches at the ongoing Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse Memorial Football tournament here. Defending champions Naga FC and Naga Terriers also registered comfortable wins to book their berths for the semifinals.  

In the first quarterfinal, Vanguard FC thrashed Friends United FC by 9-0 to enter the semi finals.  

Nythong Magh opened the account for Vanguard FC in the 12th minute. Yhunshalo Kemp contributed four goals to the team in the 21st, 35th, 36th and 58th minutes. The team got another two goals through Awangbou Kaurinta in the 68th and 88th minutes. Sinlo Kent and Sisenti Kath also scored a goal apiece in the 41st and 78th minute respectively.  

In the second quarterfinal, defending champion Naga FC eased past Tornadoes FC 4-0. Khwetelhi Thopi grabbed a brace for Naga FC scoring in the 3rd and 77th minute while Aloumei Panmei and Rhitso Mero netted a goal each in the 11th and 39th minute respectively.  

In third quarterfinal, Naga Terriers beat Medziphema United 3-0. T. Khampal netted two goals for the winning team while Chubatemjem scored the other goal.  

In the final quarterfinal match, Green Club overpowered Laimcishm FC 7-0 with Shiyeto grabbing a hat-trick. Kemiyeto scored two goals while Puloto and Vito netted a goal each.
