Several coaches from different parts of the state joined a five day long Coaches Development Workshop which got underway here today at Indira Gandhi Stadium.


Organized by Department of Youth Resources & Sports in collaboration with Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools and Nagaland Football Association, this workshop will continue till October 25.


Designed for all the current and aspirant coaches, the workshop will feature mix of theory and practical sessions.


Four best coaches will be selected from this workshop to undergo further training at Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools.


Sumit Yadav and Nikhil Khunteta from Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools will train the coaches for five days.

Department keen to promote football


Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports Advisor, Er Zale Neikha said that the department is keen to promote football in Nagaland.


He said that this workshop is also part of the 100 years celebration of the legendary footballer Dr T Ao.


“We have potential. We have the ability to excel in the field of football,” the advisor said.


Er Neikha told the introductory session that the coaches need to acquire technical ways of practice to perform better. The advisor challenged the coaches’ and the sportspersons to maintain discipline to excel in the field of games and sports.


To develop football holistically in Nagaland


Sumit Yadav, technical manager, Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools said that Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools have signed MoU with Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports Nagaland to develop football holistically in the state of Nagaland.


Stating that Nagaland and North East India posses a lot of talent in the field of football, he said “We just need to give them right exposure to grow.”


“We have to promote every aspect of the game only then we will be able to develop football in Nagaland,” Yadav said.


Akumla Chuba, director Youth Resources & Sports said that 15 footballers have been selected from the Catch Them Young Tournament recently to undergo coaching at Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools.


The players include: Sheto Chuzho (Phek), Kito (Dimapur), Veluta Sapu (Kohima), Labento Yeetho (Zunheboto), Sulanthung Tungoe (Dimapur),  Mangkholen (Peren), Haominlal (Peren), Inzumlung (Peren), Paochonthang (Dimapur), Iloka (Dimapur), Kenny Wangmadin (Dimapur), Panhnyei (Longleng), Wibonjibo (Peren), A.Ayen Mongba (Tuensang) and Mughaka Chishi (Zunheboto).
