NDPP looking forward to ‘more vibrant Nagaland’

Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in a winning feat at the 17th Lok Sabha elections, the results which were declared today “looks forward towards building a more vibrant Nagaland with the active support and cooperation of the people.”

A communique issued by NDPP Media & Communication Committee expressed “heartfelt gratitude to the people and electorates of Nagaland for having reposed their faith in the NDPP-PDA candidates Tokheho Yepthomi and Sharingain Longkumer.”

The release further praised “the Almighty for bestowing His abundant blessings upon our candidates and the party,” and continued to pray that He will bless the Naga people in the days and years to come. “Our victory would not have been possible without the support and sacrifice of our party rank and file, our alliance partners the BJP, JD(U) and Independent; we shall be forever be grateful to them for this victory,” it maintained.

The NDPP commended the electorates for allowing true democracy to prevail. “The fact that the counting of votes went down to the wire only proves that democracy is alive in the state and this is the way that an election should be conducted. The Election Commission of India, the CEO and election department of Nagaland, the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police along with the entire government machinery have to be commended for the successful completion of the 2019 elections and the NDPP thank each and every one of them who have worked tireless,” the release added.

The NDPP also acknowledged the opposition parties and “especially the Congress candidates KL Chishi and Alemjongshi Longkumer for having given a spirited fight” and further looked forward to working towards building a better Nagaland stating it needs a strong opposition to maintain checks and balances in governance.

It acknowledged the “Church, Tribal Hohos, CSOs and NGOs for their active participation in the conduct of free and fair elections.”

The party further congratulated Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah and the rank and file of the BJP led NDA for the emphatic win in the 2019 general elections.

“The NDPP is humbled by this victory and bestow all praise to God for having led us thus far,” the release added.
