1,501 set to arrive from Bengaluru today

DIMAPUR, JUNE 4 (MExN): With 1,501 people set to arrive in Nagaland via a special train from Bengaluru on June 5, a coordination meeting was held in Dimapur today to discuss matters related to reception and dispatch of the returnees.


According to the Control Room, Empowered Group Dimapur, the train is expected to arrive between 12 noon and 1:00pm. 


A report from the DIPR informed that as per the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), all returnees are to be received, screened and dispatched by Team Dimapur to all 10 districts across the state. 


The meeting therefore decided that 757 returnees of Dimapur district will be sent to the Agri Expo, for registration, screening & triaging by medical team and thereafter process for hosting the returnees at designated quarantine centers. 


The remaining 744 returnees from the 10 districts will be screened by the medical team at railway station district wise as per the order of districts – Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Phek, Mokokchung, Wokha, Peren and Kohima.


After screening by medical team, all returnees shall be provided with meal and then proceed for transfer to respective districts.
The reception, accommodation, transport and food committees have been directed to prepare and keep all necessary arrangements on standby to service the returnees, including other districts, in case of any exigency.


The district nodal officers have also been asked to coordinate with team Dimapur and on completion of all necessary formalities, escort the returnees to their respective districts and quarantine centers.

 

Dimapur lockdown from 
5 am to midnight today 

In view of the train’s arrival, the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner issued an order directing all retail shops and markets to remain closed from 5:00am till midnight of June 5 in Dimapur town.  This has been done in order to facilitate the smooth transport of the returnees. 


The Dimapur Police also issued an order imposing total restriction of normal vehicular traffic in Dimapur from 5:00am to midnight on June 5.


However, movement of officials/personnel of the Health Department, Administration, Police and other directly involved in the said exercise will be exempted.

 

Agri Expo to be converted into transit camp
Meanwhile, the meeting also decided that the quarantine centre at Agri Expo will be converted into a transit camp to accommodate those returnees who may arrive through various routes (except special trains) on transit to other districts. 


The accommodation committee has been directed to vacate the quarantine centre at Agri Expo and relocate the residents to a suitable quarantine centre. 


This was felt as an urgent need as team Dimapur is currently managing about 50 quarantine centers excluding paid hotels spread across the district from Medziphema to Ruzaphema to Ganesh Nagar to Bade to Nihokhu to Indisen village, apart from Dimapur city areas.


Further, the disinfecting team has been directed to promptly sanitize all vacated quarantine centers regularly without delay so that new returnees can be immediately accommodated.


The meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, APC & Dimapur District Incharge for COVID – 19 along with W Honje Konyak, Secretary, F&CS; Anoop Khinchi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur; Rothihu Tetseo, IPS, Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Convenor of Reception, Accommodation, Transport and Fooding, committee and other officials involved in the logistic arrangements for special train arriving from Bengaluru.
