Medziphema, September 9 (MExN): A three-day Phase-3 training programme for the State Resource Group (SRG) on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) concluded at the In-Service Teachers Training-cum-Examination Centre with Residential Facilities in Pherima near Medziphema.
The September 1–3 residential workshop was organised by the Directorate of School Education and Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, in collaboration with non-profit organisation Dream a Dream, as part of an initiative to foster inclusive and supportive school environments across the state.
The experiential training brought together 29 master trainers from Educational Block Resource Centres (EBRCs) who will lead the subsequent rollout of teacher capacity-building programmes across schools in Nagaland.
Building upon the previous two phases, the concluding session focused on refining facilitation methods, strengthening constructive feedback mechanisms, establishing peer-support communities, and assessing the learning trajectories of participants.
Addressing the participants, Additional Director of School Education Deenabandhu Panda underlined the growing relevance of SEL in contemporary education. He noted that widespread access to digital devices and reduced outdoor engagement among children have compromised key developmental milestones related to emotional resilience and interpersonal skills, making institutional SEL interventions crucial.
Sharing her perspective, Moimei, a Trainer of Trainers (ToT) from an EBRC, remarked that the framework supports both educators and students in navigating daily pressures, fostering self-awareness, and developing mental resilience.
With the conclusion of Phase 3, the SRG cohort will spearhead the next level of district teacher trainings to operationalise the SEL framework across 176 schools in the state.
Dream a Dream works across seven Indian states through direct interventions and government partnerships, impacting over 2.3 million children by integrating life skills and holistic development into mainstream education.
