Dimapur, April 6 (MExN): In view of the lockdown necessitated by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, various NGOs along with the Dimapur District Administration have been distributing free food packets and home delivery of essential commodities to vulnerable sections of the society.


Providing updates on the activities carried out in Dimapur district, Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Anoop Khinchi on Monday, informed that 221 people are currently housed in DDSC Relief Camp, 44 stranded passengers in Youth Hostel and 82 people are taking shelter in the State Sports Hostel. He also said that at least 700-800 people as well as those in the temporary shelters are being provided food packets and rations of essential commodities through the Community Kitchen and Food Bank initiatives.


The DC also informed that the National People’s Party and All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) donated essential commodities to students of Dimapur Eastern Naga Students Union stranded in Dimapur and 135 students residing in 10 Nagaland University hostels in Medziphema.  Around 100 students in Dimapur were also given relief in the form of essential commodities distributed through the Dimapur Naga Students Union, he said.
