6 detected without ILP in Mkg town

Alongmen Ward authority under Mokokchung town on April 3 detected 6 migrant workers without Inner Line Permit, the news of which went viral in social media. It was initially reported that that they arrived Mokokchung after the national lockdown, raising concern about their health status amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The 6 ILP defaulters were produced at the Mokokchung Police Station by the Alongmen Ward authority the same day.


However, Mokokchung police today told media persons that they arrived Mokokchung “during mid-March” and ruled out the possibility of their being infected by the dreaded COVID-19 virus. “They have no indication of fever as 14 days’ period has been completed,” said Additional Superintendent of Police, Imtimeren. Three of the six ILP defaulters were minors.


On the measures adopted to seal the inter-state boundary Mokokchung district share with Assam, it was informed that police forces have been deployed along the porous border and stationed at Tsutepela check gate, Aosenden Village, Saring Village, Tsuremen Village, Watiyongpang Check Gate and at Anaki Yimsen Village since March 23.
