Mokokchung, September 24 (MExN): After three rounds of intensive and mind-blowing juggling of words, Asst. Professor, Dept. of English, Jubilee Memorial College, A. Ajungla Jamir won the Ultimate Scrabbler 2017 contest held at Same Ol’ Place restaurant on September 23 at Mokokchung Town. Dr Aoyimsen Jamir was the runner-up in the first of its kind competition, which was participated by 20 scrabble enthusiasts of all ages including pensioners, homemakers, lecturers, journalists and students.
The Ultimate Scrabbler 2017 was organized by a group of likeminded people who share a love for English language and also for crossword puzzles. The competition was held as per the standard scrabble rules with Awa Longkumer (Teacher) as the chief judge.
The Ultimate Scrabbler 2017, A. Ajungla Jamir was awarded a cash prize of Rs 3000 (sponsored by Heritage Publishing House, Dimapur) along with a framed certificate and a scrabble board. The runner-up Dr Aoyimsen Jamir was also awarded a cash prize of Rs 2000 (sponsored by Wai Imchen of Dimapur) along with a scrabble board and certificate. All the participants were given certificates of participation.
The organizers (Limasenla Jamir, Bendangtemsu Chingmir and Longrangty Longchar) have appreciated all the sponsors, proprietor of Same Ol’ Place restaurant, participants, well-wishers and all those who rendered their help towards the successful hosting of the competition.
They also expressed gratitude to the senior most participants, R Aienla Aier and S Wai Imchen (a pensioner from Dimapur) for their encouragement, advices and participation in the competition.
The organizers also plan to hold such competition in the years to come.
