Mokokchung, July 3 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) on Friday submitted a representation to Nagaland Governor RN Ravi, stating its stance on the proposed delimitation exercise in the state. It also called for an “honorable, acceptable and inclusive political settlement” to the Indo-Naga Talks.

In the representation, AKM President Nungdokyanger Ao and General Secretary Nekmi Longkumer claimed that the proposed delimination exercise “has compounded mixed reaction from different tribal organizations and further created social unrest” in the state.

The AKM also stated that “Census data of the year 2001 and 2011 should not be considered as the base of delimitation exercise since some irregular variation in figure of the census data had been derived.”

The status quo needs to be maintained within the existing Assembly Constituency of the State. Further, the AKM stated that the ongoing Indo-Naga Political talk and the political settlement has become a paramount importance for the younger generation.

As such, it expressed its belief that an “honorable, acceptable and inclusive political settlement” should come without further delay and urged the Governor to take “judicious measure for the larger interest of the Nagas.”
