Almost all NEC power projects in Nagaland completed

Almost all the power projects sanctioned by the North Eastern Council (NEC) for Nagaland during the last 5 years has been completed, informed the  Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, G Kishan Reddy in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on February 3. 

As per the reply, 3 power projects worth Rs 14.27 crore were sanctioned for Nagaland during the last five years.

It included the Rs 6.61 crore “Off Grid solar power plants with an aggregate capacity of 855 KWP at Government Deptts.

Office building in Nagaland” which was 98% completed and are the process of “final formalities.” It is being implemented by Nagaland’s New &  Renewable Energy Department. 

The second project was “Development of Hydroger” with a sanctioned amount of Rs 1.73 crore. “Project physically completed and final formalities are being taken,” informed the present status of the project provided by the Minister.

Nagaland Empowerment of People Through Energy Development (NEPeD), Government of Nagaland is the implementing agency of the project. 

Likewise, the present status of the Construction of 1 no 33/11kV, 1x1.6MVA unmanned Substation at Longmatra at a sanctioned amount of Rs 5.93 crore also read: “Project physically completed and final formalities are being taken.” It is being implemented by the Department of Power Nagaland.

Meanwhile, during the last 5 years 11 power projects costing Rs 125.16 crore were sanctioned by the NEC in the region and most projects were either completed or on the verge of completion, the Minister informed.   

Constituted in 1971, the NEC is the nodal agency for the economic and social development of the North Eastern Region consisting of the eight States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
