7th Apple festival held at Thanamir village
Kiphire, September 25 (MExN): The 7th Apple festival, jointly organized by Thanamir Village Council and District Administration under the aegis of department of Horticulture, Nagaland was successfully celebrated at public ground, Thanamir village with the theme ‘Apple for Harmony, Health and Wealth’ on September 16 with Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Sedevikho Khro as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC called upon the villagers to be enterprising and hard working toward the success and growth of Apple farming in the areas.
Sedevikho, further urged the farmers to put sincere effort in to Apple farming in order to produce large qualities to attract investors and buyers from mainland India, he said adding, as India produces and consumes large qualities of Apple which is one of their main food stable.

In his welcome address, chairman Thanamir village council, Tsechimong lauded the district administration and horticulture department for initiating such event which brings a lot of beneficial for the peoples and also encouraging toward the farmers for the better development in the farming sectors and hoped that, such kind of assistance and initiative would be continue in the day to come for the common lucrative of the people and society at large.
Thanamir Village Council in a press release said that during the programme, short speeches were also delivered by Rev. A. Thsankiu E.S. YBBA, S. Kiusumew Yimchunger president PFPSD, Tangit Longkumer Missionary NBCC, S. Senka Jamir, DHO Kiphire and Wennyei Konyak ADC Pungro. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Among and Somule while invocation was pronounced by pastor TBC, Hanji.
Students of GPS Thanamir village also presented a special number on the occasion. The celebration was marked by cultural dances being performed by the various cultural troupes of Thanamir village. The programme was followed by Apple exhibition-cum- sale and thereafter visits to Apple orchard.
The celebration programme was well attended by government officials from district administration, police, leaders from Pungro Area, Students and general public.
