AR take farmers to Himachal

Mokokchung, November 15 (MExN): The team of National Integration Tour from Nagaland to Himachal Pradesh organised by 44 Assam Rifles were “flagged in” here on November 13.   The team had begun the tour on November 2 in Mokokchung. The tour incorporated 22 farmers from all the 11 districts of Nagaland, thus covering the entire ethnicity of the state, informed a press release from Assam Rifles.   “The broader aim of the tour was to integrate the distinct cultural and social ethos of the nation, which may be geographically apart,” the release said. It also focused to familiarise the farmers with agricultural advancements in Himachal Pradesh which has similar terrain and climatic conditions, it added.   The tour included visit to various renowned agricultural and horticultural universities and research facilities in Solan and Shimla along with sight-seeing at scenic places of Himachal Pradesh. The tour members also interacted with Governor of Himachal Pradesh Acharya Debavrat in Shimla on November 8 and with the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command on November 9.   A closing ceremony was organised at the Prasidhan Hall of 44 Assam Rifles. Highlights of the tour were presented in form of a short movie along with the “enchanting” experiences of the farmers, the release stated.   Brig MS Sidhu brought out the essence of the tour and also motivated the participants to conduct farming workshops in their respective districts for the larger welfare of all farmers of Nagaland.
