According to the Deputy SP (Traffic), Kohima, Manom Wallim, “The cause of the accident was a mechanical failure, as per the statement of the driver.”

The truck was part of a military motorcade from Jakhama to Dimapur when it hit a private van and another (Maruti Gypsy) from its own convoy. The Gypsy was badly damaged. However, the driver and passenger escaped unhurt, informed Wallim.
