Mokokchung, June 12 (MExN): The governing body of the 23 Impur Piggery Community Project and stakeholders held a meeting at the residence of 23 Impur Assembly Constituency MLA and Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, T N Mannen, in Mokokchung on June 11 to review the progress of the community-based livestock initiative and discuss its future direction.
Addressing the meeting, Mannen advocated for Asetkong to emerge as a major piggery farming hub in Mokokchung district. He directed concerned departmental officials to extend training and veterinary support to beneficiaries on a regular basis to ensure the sustainability of the project.
He also expressed confidence that future political and social leaders from the Asetkong area, along with other stakeholders, would continue to strengthen the initiative and take it to a higher level. He said the project has the potential to help meet the piggery livestock requirements of Mokokchung district through the efforts of farmers in the region.

Retired Additional Director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, Dr Simon, spoke on technical aspects of piggery management, including feed requirements and other inputs. He also discussed disease prevention and control measures and outlined items required for effective implementation of the project.
District Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Tiachuba highlighted the importance of animal registration and livestock insurance and briefed participants on the procedures and follow-up measures involved. Dr Sarandi of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) spoke on demonstration plots and technical support available from the department and provided guidance on accessing departmental assistance.
During the meeting, Piggery Community Project Convenor Aongsen Aier presented a report on the project's progress and placed project details before the stakeholders for discussion and approval.
The Impur Community Piggery Project, launched in May 2016, covers nine villages under the 23 Impur Assembly Constituency. According to project officials, 106 beneficiaries have so far received piglets, feeders and other necessary equipment under the initiative.
