Assam Riffles gets new Additional Director General

Dimapur, November 1 (MExN): Major General Dinesh Kumar Singh, Sena Medal on Monday assumed the charge of the Additional Director General of Assam Rifles.

Major General Dinesh Kumar Singh, SM on his first day laid a wreath at the Assam Rifles War Memorial at Laitkor, Shillong to honour the braves who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and interacted with various appointments of Headquarters of Directorate General of Assam Rifles. According to an update from the PRO, HQ IGAR (N) stated that Major General Dinesh Kumar Singh, Sena Medal, was commissioned into The Brigade of Guards in 1990, and is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad and National Defence College, New Delhi. 

In an illustrious career spanning more than three decades, he has commanded his Battalion in the Counter Insurgency Area and has also served extensively in the Northeast, having been a DIG of a Sector in Assam and also a Company Commander in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

The General Officer has also served as an ADC to the Chief of Army Staff, he has been an Instructor and Adjutant at National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, GSO-1 of an Armoured Brigade, Defence Attached in Brazil and Brigadier AFTI at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, New Delhi.

The General Officer has been decorated with Sena Medal and has also been commended with COAS Commendation Card on three occasions and a CNS Commendation Card at Brazil.
