Mokokchung, September 26 (MExN): The Ao Senden has condemned the assault meted out to a family on September 21 in Chumukedima. In a statement issued by its president, Imliyanger Jamir and general secretary, S Temsu Aier, the Ao Senden appealed to the authority concerned to give befitting punishment to the miscreants at the earliest. “Such incidents should be an eye opener for the Nagas to do away in sheltering and conniving with the illegal immigrants today itself before the future of the Naga, as a tribal community is held captive in our own land by the illegal immigrants,” the statement said.
DDCF: The Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) also condemned the incident. Joseph Lemtur, president and A. Rahman, general secretary of DDCF in a statement appealed to the law enforcing agencies and the community concerned of the absconding assailants to cooperate with each other to nab them at the earliest and punish them. The DDCF also expressed sympathy with the victims of the incident and wished them speedy recovery.
NTC: Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) condemning the September 21 assault meanwhile stated “booking the culprits alone is found wanted as that does not settle the issue of the huge presence of illegal and foreign nationals in the state of Nagaland.” The NTC in a statement from its Media Cell urged the State government to have a comprehensive and strategic plan to resolve the issue of illegal infiltrators before it becomes too overwhelming to handle. Further, it was disheartened to observe that the assailants of L. Doulo, a Naga prominent entrepreneur in Dimapur, are at large. “The lethargy of the district administration and police gives the impression that the state Govt. is abetting much crime in Nagaland…such crime mongers should never be spared by government,” it stated. “The delay in booking the culprits itself and not to speak of letting them off will definitely encourage the anti-people elements to take undue advantage of the gullible citizens.” The NTC urged the authority concerned to arrest the perpetrators without further delay.
TUCT: The Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (TUCT) also denounced and expressed regret over the assault incident. It urged the law enforcing agency to arrest the other absconding assailants as early as possible and punish them according to the law. Meanwhile, the union appealed to the court not to grant bail and urged the citizens of Nagaland to condemn such act and stand united. The union has decided to hold a mass public rally so at to curb these issues, according to a statement from TUCT general secretary, Bendangwati Sangtam and president, Lhousito Khro.
