Mokokchung, April 24 (MExN): Frontline workers like Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Anganwadi Workers (AWW) have been actively involved in creating awareness on COVID-19 in both rural and urban areas under Mokokchung district.


A report from Chief Medical Office, Mokokchung, informed that ASHAs and AWWs have been performing home visits where they share information on hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene, social distancing, high risk groups and check on the health status of elderly and people with existing illnesses.


Community awareness through Inter Personal Communication, distribution of flyers, pamphlets and posters are also carried out by them in their coverage areas. Other activities include listing of individuals with travel history within the last 14 days and those who are or have been in contact with suspected/positive cases, and follow up activities with the individuals advised to follow home quarantine.


According to the release, the Information Education and Communication (IEC) staff of Mokokchung district in collaboration with the District Public Relation Office (DPRO) has also been taking measures in keeping the public aware of the prevailing COVID-19 and its preventions. Announcements of do’s and don’ts, social distancing, social stigma, Home Quarantine in all the Villages and Wards have also been carried out through public addressing systems.


Besides these, radio talks, pasting of pamphlets, posters and distribution of flyers etc are also being carried out from time to time, the release stated.
