Chümoukedima, September 25 (MExN): Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) in collaboration with CGST, Dimapur Commissionarate and e-Circle, Chümoukedima organised an awareness programme on e-waste management and e-waste collection drive on September 23.
SCHE Principal, Fr Dr Paul Punii, welcomed RH Meena, IRS, Commissioner, CGST Dimapur and colleagues, and Bendangwala Walling and Sowete-ü, Managing Partners of E-Circle, the coordinators of the days programme.
RH Meena, Commissioner of CGST Dimapur, congratulated the managing partners of e-Circle for the work they are doing, especially spreading awareness on e-waste management. He called upon the students of the college to learn about the waste management, and put into action to keep the surroundings and atmosphere clean.
Bendangwala called upon all the students to practice electronic and electrical waste management. Today, there is a 20% general increase of electronic and electrical waste, as even the remotest village youths handle e-gadgets. As a result if they are not recycled, and if they are not treated properly, and if they are dumped in landfills, or burned, they will greatly contribute to the air pollution and land poisoning.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by S Bachui, President, Eco Club.
