Laying of wreath at Kohima War Cemetery, a visit to Gandhi Ashram in Chuchuyimlang and public addresses are some of the itineraries in the Nagaland leg of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra (BJNY) or India Justice and Unity March is set to flag off on Sunday from Manipur's Thoubal district by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, after some last-minute changes due to permissions for the event not being given to start the march from the capital, Imphal.

As per the tentative schedule for the Nagaland leg, the Congress leader will technically spend four days in the state, inclusive of arrival in Khuzama, near the inter-state border with Manipur, on the evening of January 15 and departure to Amguri on Thursday (January 18) morning.

However, the official BJNY Nagaland-leg is set to begin from Visvema, Kohima, on January 16.

The first day of the march includes a visit to Kohima War Cemetery and a public address from the Yatra bus in the Phulbari area of Kohima Town. Thereafter, the march resumes towards Tseminyu with a lunch break in Chiechema.

Other itineraries on day-I include a public address in Wokha Town and a night halt in Chukitong Town.  On the second day, public addresses from the Yatra bus are scheduled in VK Town under Zunheboto district and in Mokokchung Town. The Congress leader is expected to interact with students in Mokokchung before marching towards Chuchuyimlang and visiting Gandhi Ashram.

Resuming the journey, a public address from the Yatra bus is scheduled in Changtongya town in the early evening.  Gandhi is expected to halt for the night in Tuli, a town near the Assam-Nagaland border on January 17. The next morning, the march will resume its journey with departure to Amguri in Assam.

Accordingly, the BJNY Nagaland-leg will cover five districts- Kohima, Tseminyu, Wokha, Zunheboto, and Mokokchung. As per an earlier release by the party, a total of 257 kilometres encompassing 17 Assembly Constituencies is expected to be covered in the Nagaland leg of the Yatra.

Meanwhile, in a social media post ahead of the first day, Nagaland Congress exhorted people to march for India’s peace and unity. “March for India's Peace & Unity. In Nagaland from 15th Jan to 18th Jan. Be there. Take a Stand. Spread Power. For Justice, All In!” it posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The Yatra is set to conclude in Mumbai on March 20, traversing a total distance of 6713 kilometres over a span of 66 days, with the planned route passing through 110 districts in 15 states.
