Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): The Bharathimana Fishermen Development Cooperative Ltd (Bharathimanaco), Manipur, a multi-state cooperative society under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, India, having its area of operation extends to the state of Manipur and Nagaland was established on July 6.
“The society was formed to uplift the deprived, genuine, dedicated, transparent and hardworking fish farmers and fishermen of the region,” said a press release issued by Dr Ramanando Khundrakpam, Founder Chairman, Bharathimanaco.
“Bharathimanaco was formed by joined hands of deprived, genuine, dedicated, transparent and hardworking fish farmers and fishermen of Manipur and Nagaland,” Founder Chairman stated. He added that it was formed with the objectives - to provide inputs for aquaculture, promote and develop fish production, processing and sale of fish and their products to the best advantage of members; export and import of fish and its products; provide vehicle kiosks to its members to promote marketing of fishes and allied products; start consumer store in the fishermen villages. Among many other, it also aims to obtain concessional finance from the Central and State government, NABARD, NCUI, NCDC, NFDB and other banking institutions.
