DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 11 (MExN): BJP national general secretary (org), Ramlal has said that UPA chairperson and AICC president, Sonia Gandhi’s criticism of DAN’s misuse of funds was “lame”.
Addressing media persons on Monday in Dimapur, Ramlal said if Sonia found fault in Nagaland affairs today, she and the party should realise that the present situation was borne out of the faulty corrupt practice of years of congress rule in the state and the centre.
Stating that a president of a national a party cannot refer to the funds sanctioned to the state as its own, the BJP general secretary said the union government only sanctions what is due to the state as state’s share.
Ramlal claimed that the BJP-led NDA government had a clean record of being corruption free and pointed out that there was no price rise of essential commodities during its regime.
Voicing the party’s concern for the Northeast, he said the BJP’s policies emphasised on the development of the region to bring it at par with the developmental level of the rest of the country. He said the party’s concern for NE was reflected in the creation of two ministries namely tribal welfare and DoNER.
Ramlal also maintained that the party has particular interest for Nagaland and reminded of former PM A.B. Vajpayee’s economic package of Rs 1053 crore which wiped out state’s debt of Rs 365 crore. He said former BJP president Nitin Gadkari also visited Eastern Nagaland in December 2012 to enquire into the underdevelopment of the area.
He claimed that the performance of the BJP-led NDA government at the centre and BJP ruled states have created a favourable atmosphere in the country for the party to return to power in the 2014 general elections.
Urging the people to be wary of Congress ‘misrule,’ Ramlal appealed the people of the state to vote for 11 BJP candidates in different constituencies.
