Blue Star lift 5th Silver Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament

Blue Star Cricket Club, Dimapur today emerged as the champion of the 5th Silver Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church Kohima under the theme “Peace and Unity through Cricket” at Local Ground.

In a closely fought final match of the game, Blue Star CC defeated arch rivals Lhomithi Sporting Club, Dimapur by 20 runs to lift the trophy along with cash award of Rs. 60,000, gold medals and citations.

Lhomithi SC received cash award of Rs. 25,000 with trophy, silver medals and citation.
Winning the toss, Blue Star elected to bat and set a target of 178 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs with Imliwati and Tezosal scoring highest 45 and 44 runs while Lhomithi bowler Mridul and Vicky claimed two wickets each.

Chasing the huge target, Lhomithi SC managed 157 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs with Rahul Ronghang scoring highest 60 runs and Krishna managing 21 runs. Blue Star bowler Gaurav Yadav and Kanak Yadav claimed two wickets each.

The two semi-finalist team Whiskers CC Dimapur and Dimapur Cricket Club also received Rs. 5000 each.  The individual awardees are: Player of the Tournament – Michael of Blue Star CC with 135 runs and 10 wickets in four matches; Best Wicket Keeper - Birju Nandi of Lhomithi SC; Best Bowler – Mridul Rongpi of Lhomithi SC with 11 wickets in 5 matches; Highest Run Scorer – Michael of Blue Star CC for 135 runs; Emerging Player – Sedezhalie of Whiskers CC and Fair Play Team – Bayavii ‘B’. All the individual awardees also received cash award, citation and trophy.

The valedictory function was graced by Vice Principal of Kohima Science College, Yanger Longkumer as the chief guest. He also gave away the awards to the winners.
