Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control, Tovihoto Ayemi on Tuesday made a strong call for brotherhood not only within one’s community but with all creed, caste, religion and community.
Tovihoto said that everyone was created equal by God but that earthly human beings were differentiating themselves into different colours adding, “We must inculcate a sense of brotherhood amongst us since we are all equal in the eyes of God and we should live in harmony.”
He was speaking as the chief guest during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Durga Puja organized by Progressive Youth Association behind Hotel Theja Fort, Dimapur.
Tovihoto emphasized more on common brotherhood stating that Dimapur was a place where people from every nook and corner of the nation co-exist peacefully. He said this message of peaceful co-existence should be spread to the rest of the region and the country. In this regard, he urged people from outside the State residing in Dimapur to spread the message of harmonious living to their home states and other regions. “If those of you living here become a witness for Nagaland about peaceful co-existence when you visit your home states, it can create positive vibes,” he added.
Tovihoto said his attachment with all communities be it Hindu, Muslim, Jain etc remained the same and encouraged them to continue respecting each other.
He lauded the Progressive Youth Association for attaining 25 years of Durga Puja celebrations and encouraged them to work with renewed support and cooperation among themselves looking towards the golden jubilee.
Tovihoto said that the Durga Puja being a symbol of the victory of good over evil, the significance should be reflected in their daily lives by forgiving each other’s misdeeds and allow goodness to prevail over.
The programme was attended by leaders of various communities including Bhojpuri Samaj, Kachari community, GBs of various colonies, former DMC councillors, Kuhoi Zhimo and Vikheho Zhimo among others.
