On the occasion of 158th birth anniversary of renowned spiritual leader and social reformer, Swami Vivekananda, the Administrator of Dimapur Municipal Council, Albert Ezung made a clarion call to promote the spirit of oneness among the citizens and carry forward the good works of the Swami.

He was speaking as the special guest during the 6th Foundation Day cum Office Inauguration of Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (SWF), Dimapur coinciding with the revered leader’s 158th birth anniversary at new DMC building on January 12.

Ezung described Swami as a progressive thinker and a strong advocate for social upliftment and enlightenment. He encouraged the gathering to carry forward the positive ideals and principles of Swami to bring positive changes in the society. “Let us continue to uphold the ideals, principles and teachings of Swami Vivekananda,” he added. 

The Administrator lauded the SWF for its yeoman services during the pandemic and expressed willingness of DMC to collaborate with it to work for the society.

During the programme, Reeme Deb, Project Co-rodinator of Pratibha, an educational initiative of VWF, highlighted about its project through which basic education was being imparted to the underprivileged children. She said after a lull in the project owing to the pandemic, the activity is set to resume with more than 100 children identified in its independent survey.

It may be mentioned that the birth anniversary of Swami is also being celebrated as National Youth Day since 1985.
