Campaign on oil conservation and energy efficiency launched in Nagaland

Kohima, January 17 (MExN): SAKSHAM (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav), an annual month-long awareness campaign on oil conservation and energy efficiency was launched in Nagaland with the theme ‘Green and Clean Energy’. 

The Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under of aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas along with Oil PSUs inaugurated SAKSHAM 2021 for the state of Nagaland through a Zoom meeting on January 16, Ngahorning Kashung State Level Coordinator, Nagaland informed in a press release.

The campaign is observed every year from January 16 to February 15 throughout the country.

Under this campaign, various activities such as LPG panchayat, group talks, debates, workshops, etc. will be undertaken for spreading the message of awareness of the conservation of Oil and Gas and environment protection, the release added.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Minister (CM) Neiphiu Rio expressed happiness at the launch of the campaign in the state and appealed to everyone to contribute and support this year's edition of SAKSHAM.

With the growth of Indian economy and development taking place in all sectors, the fossil fuel consumption has been increasing every single day. Also the dramatic improvements in the standard of living of the average person over the past few decades have also led to increase in consumption of energy, especially fossil fuels. As such, the only way to achieve oil conservation and energy efficiency through a collective effort from all sections of the society, the CM stated in his message.

Conveying best wishes to the PCRA, he also hoped that the month-long programme would be a channel for change.
