Mokokchung, October 22 (MExN): There is no let-up to the indefinite ‘chakha bandh’ in Mokokchung called by the Mokokchung District Commercial Vehicles Owners Association (MDCVOA) which started on October 21.
According to sources, a meeting between the association and the district administration remained inconclusive on Tuesday.
However, another meeting is scheduled at 11am on October 23 where both the parties as well as all the apex bodies in the district are slated to attend. If the outcome is positive, the bandh might be call-off subsequently, the sources said, expressing confident that the issue would be resolved at the meeting.
MDCVOA imposed the ‘chakha bandh’ in protest against the authorities not meeting its demand on revoking of VAHAN 4 in Mokokchung.
All commercial vehicles including local and regional taxis, private buses, commercial trucks, pickup trucks and night bus services remained off road since Monday.
On Monday, the administration that maintained that it has has formulated a “mechanism and strategy” to ensure that there is no shortage of essential commodities and fuel in the market while the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) has informed that “there is enough stock of essential commodities in the market that should sustain at least two weeks under normal conditions.”
