Chozuba, January 4 (MExN): Chozuba Village Baptist Church celebrated its 125 years of existence of Christianity under the theme, ‘great is thy faithfulness’ at the newly dedicated church building on December 27 last.
Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), General Secretary, Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho unveiled the quasquicentennial monolith.
Addressing the congregation, Rev Keyho asserted that the history of Christianity is not about our achievement but what God has done for us. “Our history is about His story, of how we were once people who walked in darkness and under the shadow of death but now He has made us His people. His story is about love, grace and mercy. He has made us people of love, grace and mercy,” he shared to the congregation.
He asserted that the first missionaries who brought the message of the love of God have divine purpose and “we must discover that divine purpose for us today so that the generations to come will continue to celebrate the faithfulness of God.”
He said, “We are called not only to celebrate but to continue the mission of God. 125 years of Christianity in our village is an event to be lived and we must continue to reach out to the unreached beyond the horizon by setting our mission to the east, west south and north and not remain complacent.”
A press release issued by Jolayi Nienü, Chairman, Quasquicentennial Celebration Committee stated that Purhiyi Demo, Chairman, COMS presided over the unveiling ceremony.
The opening ceremony was led by Rev Thepupa Swüro, Senior Pastor of the church, Vekusa Lohe, Chairman, Chozuba Area Baptist Church Council (CABCC) invoked God’s blessing while Jolayi Nienü delivered the welcome note. The souvenir for 125 years celebration was released by Vipralhou Kesiezie, Board Chairman and greeting was brought by Neisalie Keretsü, Pastor, Khedi Baptist Church.
The ceremony was enthralled with special praises presented by Men Fellowship of Khedi Baptist Church, Kohima Village, Yorüba Baptist Church Choir, Quasquicentennial Choir and Local Church Combine Choir. The programme concluded with a benediction pronounced by Rev Besütsoyi Demo, Field Director, One Challenge International, Nepal.
Apart from the quasquicentennial celebration, a new Church Building with a sitting capacity of 2500 was dedicated by Rev Khrotso Mero, Executive Secretary, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) on 26 December 2020. The function was led by Youth Secretary, CBCC Muluvoyi Nienu.
The worship service was led by Rev Vesavo Shijo, Pastor and Rev Khrotso Mero spoke to the congregation. Opening prayer was pronounced by Rev Pitolu Keyho and welcome address by Lhüsetso Shijo, Building Committee Chairman. Greeting was delivered by Rev Hotokhu P Zhimomi, Executive Secretary, SABAK, Pughoboto.
Special praises were presented by Bozio Nienü and Phizolü Nienü, Stewards of the Local Church and Quasquicentennial Choir followed by benediction pronounced by Dapu Küllao, Senior Pastor.
