Nagaland State Forest Minister, CM Chang with officials during his visit to the Peren Forest Division.
DIMAPUR, JUNE 21 (MExN): Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Parliamentary Affairs, CM Chang visited the Peren Forest Division and interacted with staff, visited Central Nursery, plantation sites, office, guest house and also inaugurated the Forest Resource Centre at Jalukie.
A press release informed that the Minister was accompanied by H Haiyong, Advisor to Prisons, Printing and Stationery; Bongkhao Konyak, Advisor to DUDA; Limaonen, OSD to CM; and H Chuba Chang, former Minister.
DFO, Dr Sentitula (IFS) highlighted the achievements of the division. She also mentioned that with the joint effort of the officers and the staff, this year recorded the highest revenue earning in 15 years with an increase of Rs 20 lakhs.
She also highlighted the successful achievement of the plantation drive as announced by the Chief Minister on June 5. The DFO shared that the initiative of the division for the year 2018-19 is to initiate community development through sustainable livelihood. “Until we are economically independent we cannot practise conservation,” she stated.
The Forest Minister meanwhile encouraged the staff to work hard and increase the government revenue. He also encouraged to go for more plantations and said the department should acquire land for plantation since Forest acts and Rules cannot be implemented in community land.
Bongkhao Konyak, Advisor to DUDA also congratulated the DFO and the staff for working hard and reminded them that it is a blessing to work in the Forest Department and being so close to the nature. The interaction was followed by ceremonial plantation in the range office complex by the Forest Minister and the dignitaries.
