The number of suspected COVID-19 cases reported from Nagaland stood at 41 as of 5:00 pm, April 3. As per the official daily update released by the government on April 3, the number of samples that have tested negative stood at 32 as it was on the evening of April 2. One more sample was sent today making the total of samples pending results at 9, it said.
Further, 3332 persons are presently under Quarantine. While stating that 4715 persons have signed up through the ncovid-19 Nagaland App, it added out of the total, 3327 persons have completed the self-declaration process. The government appealed, “Those who have entered the State after 6th March, 2020 to self register in the App with your full details.” Spokesperson and Minister for Planning & Coordination.
Updating on the actions taken as on April 3, with regard to the tracking of individuals from Nagaland, who might have been near or exposed to a COVID-19 site in Delhi, Minister for Planning and Coordination Neiba Kronu informed in the release that the state Health Department and the State Control Room for COVID-19 took “abundant caution” to trace the persons.
“The reports of the exercise done by both have been further cross checked and till now out of 70 persons in the lists, contact could be established with 62 persons, and out of these 22 are presently in the State.” Initially, the number of individuals with Nagaland as the address was stated to be 64.
Out of the 22, only 2 were found to have attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation. Stating that they are under quarantine, it said, “Their samples have also been tested and they are negative. The remaining either crossed that area or were in the vicinity of that place and all are asymptomatic i.e. not showing any symptoms and are under home quarantine.”
It further appealed anyone else from Nagaland, who attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin, and not contacted yet, to voluntarily come forward and report to the respective Deputy Commissioners.
Daily wage/migrant workers and other vulnerable sections, who are facing hardships due to the lockdown measures, are being taken care of, it said. According to the release, more than 3000 people are being daily provided food, and 346 persons have also been housed in Relief Camps and Shelters.
It assured that the availability of essential goods and commodities in the state continues to remain normal and there has been no report of shortage from any of the districts.
“I once again appeal to all the citizens to stay at home and to come out only when really necessary for purchase of food items and essential commodities, and while doing so, maintaining social distancing,” Kronu said in the release.
