With a view to further strengthen the manpower of the Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, the Nagaland Cabinet in its meeting held on June 11 approved post creation for 53 Specialist Doctors for 11 District Hospitals and 143 staff nurses.
The new posts also include creation of one Director (Medical Education &Radiation Safety), 5 Zonal Leprosy Officers (Longleng, Kiphire, Peren, Phek & Zunheboto), encadrement of 2 District Vector Borne Officers (Tuensang & Zunheboto) into the cadre of the Nagaland Health Service, as and when the present incumbents vacates the same, to be manned by medical doctors. Planning and Coordination Minister, Neiba Kronu today informed that the cabinet also approved age condonation of 28 staff nurses under the H&FW Department and fresh appointment be made against the sanctioned post; regularization of 19 serving contract medical officers under the H&FW Department, and regularization of 27 existing Medical Officers who have been engaged by the Department for a period of 1 year.
The Cabinet further directed that this approval is in one-time relaxation of laid down rules and procedures for recruitment, regularization and condonation of age. This one-time measure in view of the COVID -19 pandemic shall not be treated as a precedent, Kronu said.
