CSU & ZLSU urge age relaxation for COVID affected aspirants

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 27 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) and the Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) have expressed their support for the Concerned Aspirants Group’s demand for age relaxation in entry to government services, following disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both unions have urged the Nagaland State Government to consider the appeal, citing the loss of two years of examination attempts for many aspirants.

The CSU, in a press release, endorsed the request for fair age relaxation, stressing that many aspirants were unable to sit for competitive examinations during the pandemic. The union’s leaders, President Pfhülo Sara and General Secretary Kuzoto Swuro, emphasized that the government should ensure fair and equal opportunities for all students affected by the crisis.

In a similar statement, the ZLSU also backed the Concerned Aspirants Group’s representation. The union called for the state government to extend the age limit for entry into government services to 37 years. The ZLSU underscored that such an extension would be a fair remedy for the thousands of students who missed out on two years' worth of opportunities to compete in examinations.

“We unequivocally support the demand for age relaxation for all students affected by COVID-19. We appeal to the Government of Nagaland to extend the age limit to 37 years, providing justice to those impacted,” read the statement from the ZLSU.
