Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland has opposed the Directorate of Higher Education’s (DTE) August 4 order with regard to the Nagaland State Entrance Examination (NSEE) and demanded that the DTE nullifies the said order.
“In the interest of 1493 affected students, CTAN humbly lays down some key points for the general public, organisations and the concerned department for necessary action,” the CTAN Media Cell stated in a press release on August 17.
COVID-19 alone does not stand strong to support and justify the order, it added.
Stating that equal opportunity must be given to all applicants for open competition “and not by some committee whose birth/existence remain unknown,” CTAN claimed that the order bore ‘no official seal’ or signatures of its Head of Department.
It also pointed out that majority of the applicants have being taking breaks for a year or two and compromising with their higher education in order to attend coaching centres in preparation for the NSEE.
“Many students did not continue with their B Sc in 2019 hoping that they will get a good professional course to study through NSEE-2020,” it said while asserting on the responsibility of the DTE “to be answerable to those deprived students who were not even given a chance to complete.” It appealed the department to issue a clarification in this regard and nullify the order.
Further, the CTAN said that as per the DTE’s notification in July 2020, the total number of eligible candidates for NSEE-2020 remains 1,571, which it said, is just a small number in comparison to many other states in India.
As such, it contended that there can be open competition in other forms with the use of advanced technology, instead of blaming the pandemic for preventing the traditional form.
