Kohima, October 8 (MExN): Don Bosco College Kohima today launched 12th Edition of Euphoria Phase 1, organized by the DBCK Student Forum (DBCKSF). The two-day event spanning October 8 and 9, commenced with the cultural day with the theme ‘Wisdom of Ancestors Knowledge of Tomorrow.’
Gracing the occasion as the Special Invitee, Seyiekhrietuo Solo, Sub-Divisional Officer (C) Kohima Sadar, encouraged the younger generations to embrace technology, innovation and new ideas while remaining connected to their roots. Talking on the significance of the theme ‘Wisdom of Ancestors, Knowledge of Tomorrow’, he stressed the importance of balancing modernization with cultural identity.
He emphasized that culture extends beyond traditional dances, songs and festivals, encompassing values such as respect for others, honesty, kindness and hospitality. He also highlighted traditional weaving and textiles as important forms of knowledge passed down through generations, carrying stories, skills and heritage of the Naga people.
He further stated that cultural preservation requires young people to ‘learn, practice, teach and document’ their traditions. He encouraged them to combine the ‘wisdom of yesterday with the ‘knowledge of tomorrow through technology and creativity.
He also reminded the youths that being modern does not mean becoming ‘less Naga’ and urged them to take pride in their identity and pass their culture on future generations.
