Labourers at a construction site in Dimapur were robbed at gun point by a gang of robbers on the night of August 12. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm at NST colony.
According to the owner of the property, who wished to remain anonymous, a group of 5 turned up at the site. “There were 2 guys on the road. Three came inside the property. Two of them were Nagas and the third had a cloth covering the face,” he said.
He said that one of the men had a pistol and at gunpoint they robbed the workers of mobile phones and cash. The robbed items included 5 phones and cash totalling Rs. 6000.
While stating that a police complaint was lodged, he held that it may be a petty theft “but the use of firearm makes it a serious issue.”
Highlighting the security aspect, he said that with most of the property owners staying elsewhere construction sites become soft targets to such crime. “The security aspect needs to be checked by everyone, especially those who are developing property.”
