DLSAs provide assistance and relief

Kohima, April 25 (MExN): In view of the lockdown and the prevailing situation, District Legal Services Authorities during the last few days provided assistance and relief to different individual.
Public Relations Assistant, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) in a press release stated that in compliance to the directives of the Executive Chairman, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority to reach out to persons (students and individuals) from Manipur State stranded in various districts in Nagaland, Kohima DLSA Panel Lawyers identified 16 persons in Kohima District. The details and assistance needed by three persons were identified and the same was appraised to the Deputy Commissioner. Two persons contacted by Kohima DLSA were found to be stranded in Zunheboto and were in need of financial Assistance/Essential commodities. As such, the matter was endorsed to Zunheboto DLSA for necessary course of action.
In Dimapur, out of 88 individuals stranded, phone calls were made to all the individuals and 21 persons informed about their need for assistance. A list containing the names, contact number, address and assistance needed was prepared.
Thereafter, the Secretary of Dimapur DLSA, Somet C Chang along with the Project Assistant and Retainer Lawyer approached the Deputy Commissioner for assistance.
The Wokha DLSA identified and delivered relief materials to genuine needy beneficiaries on April 24. The materials were donated by Secretary Khrievono Seletsu JMFC/ WDLSA along with panel lawyers and Para legal volunteers. It contributed cash and served refreshment to duty personnel, medical team, volunteers on April 13. The DLSA also assisted the District Administration in preparing the panel sections for public awareness through print and social media where an individual can be booked.
Further, Kohima DLSA through the assistance from JMFC Kohima Julian Sitlhou, upon receipt of information from the Superintendent, Observation Home, Wokha and Wokha DLSA that a family from Wokha District had been stranded at Khuzama Government Hospital, Kohima due to lockdown and were struggling for shelter, essential commodities, assisted in acquiring car pass (Extra Ordinary) and provided essentials commodities and other necessary assistance.
In another instance, a Para Legal Volunteer under Chiephobozou Sub Division Legal Services Clinic Keduolhoukho Chadi in collaboration with Common Service Center (CSC) Chiephobozou Town assisted in helping the residents of the village through Banking Services (Cardless cash withdrawal of Rs. 500/- up to Rs. 5,000/-) per person/per day by using Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) for any bank account. The service was mentioned to be important since most of the aged persons/residents do not possess ATM Card and also observing that many parents whose children/family members are studying or staying outside the village are suffering due to shortage of money. The service is said to be available from 09:30 am- 2:00 pm (Monday to Friday).
Subsequently, the Phek DLSA in collaboration with district administration helped in disinfection and sanitation drives on vehicle plying from the other District at Chetheba Town Phek.
The Phek DLSA officials along with Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Public Prosecutor undertook visits to COVID19 Hospital. Chairperson shared concerns and encouraged the doctors and extended to provide any assistance for legal services at any time if they require.
