Don’t politicise COVID-19 pandemic, says NDPP to NPF

Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): The NDPP today accused the opposition NPF of “politicising the COVID-19 pandemic by making personalised attacks” on Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and said that the fight against this pandemic needs collective effort and not just the efforts of the Chief Minister and the Government of the day.

The statement came following the opposition Naga Peoples Front’s criticism of the “unpreparedness of State’s health department,” that appeared in the local dailies.

“While any government is responsible to ensure the safety of the citizens, it also requires the support of the people to fight such a crisis that the world is facing today,” a statement from the NDPP Media & Communication Committee stated. The fight against this pandemic needs the collective efforts of each and every individual and not just the efforts of the Chief Minister and the Government of the day, it added.

Meanwhile, the NDPP welcomed the participation of all NPF MLAS who have joined the task forces in their respective districts and said “their contributions and valuable experiences will go a long way in strengthening our collective efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.”

It stated that “concerns, suggestions and constructive criticism is appreciated and welcomed since these helps in strengthening the efforts being put in to fight this global pandemic.” However, it is and will be most unfortunate and selfish if we take these difficult times to politicise and push forward our political agendas and interests, the release stated.
