DVC opposes bifurcation of village

Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): Regarding the bifurcation of the village along the Nagarjan bypass at 3rd Mile (NH 29), the Darogapathar Village Council (DVC) during its emergency meeting held on December 29, 2021, has unanimously agreed by “all representative members” to maintain the integrity of the village boundary and not let the formation of the new District/s affect it.

The DVC reiterated this resolution in its memorandum issued to the Chief Secretary, Nagaland on the same date. The council stated that in the likelihood of the bifurcation of Darogapathar village along the Nagarjan by-pass from 3rd Mile area (NH 29), the Council has unanimously decided to “oppose the bifurcation of the village and maintain the integrity of the village boundary and not let the formation of the new District/s affect it.’

In the memo, the council highlighted that the Darogapathar village is located in the Eastern Region of erstwhile Dimapur district with the following villages bordering it- Naharbari Village in the North; Thilixu village & Chekeyie village in the South; Phaipijang village in the West; Padumnpukhri village, Aoyimti Village, ARTC/Airport along NH 29 in the East.

The creation of the new districts, especially that of Dimapur and Chümoukedima; our village being in the boundary of the two district with a possibility of bifurcation; the Darogapathar Village Council has resolved by majority vote to continue under the same Administrative Circle (i.e. Seithekiema/Chümoukedima, EAC Circle) as previously and as such preferably be under the new District of Chümoukedima, DVC Head GB Yashimeren Ao, Chairman K Ado Bizo, Secretary N Jamir stated in the memo. It noted that Darogapathar village was established during 1811 and “stand as one of the oldest village in the plains of Dimapur” and ever since the formation of the District of Dimapur, the Darogapathar village has been directly under the Administrative Control of EAC Seithekiema/Chümoukedima circle.

Further, the council also strongly objected on the use of its nomenclature without their knowledge and clarified that the GBs of Darogapathar Village has always been under the umbrella of GB Union, Chümoukedima Circle.
