Through Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), the State’s School Education Department has introduced organic farming in school, covering 85 Government High Schools in the state during 2018-19.
This was stated in the Annual Administrative Report (2018-19) of School Education Department tabled in the state assembly session on February 25 by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
The report stated that the objective of this project is to create awareness to students on the importance of organic farming, healthy food habits, harmful effect of chemical based to health and regain importance of saving environment.
One teacher from each school is assigned to guide and assess the performance periodically in implementing the programme as life skill activity.
“This is based on “Sow the seeds and vegetables and rotational,” the report stated adding that some schools are really doing well which also gives support to mid-day meal kitchen, study on process of plants growth and even making vermin-compost.
The report also stated that the department is implementing vocational education in 18 GHSS and GHS across the state.
The trade includes IT/ITeS and Tourism & Hospitality, IT/ITeS and Healthcare, retail and healthcare, IT/ITeS, Electronics and Beauty & Wellness and multi skilling.
