EE Kohima informs on test charging of transmission lines, issues advisory

Kohima, May 12 (MExN): The Executive Engineer (EE) of the Transmission Division in Kohima announced the scheduled test charging of transmission lines at 9:30 AM on May 14, affecting four substations and necessitating a shutdown in certain areas.

The test charging sites include "4 Nos. of 132kV Bays at 220/132 kV Zhadima (New Kohima Sub-station) and LILO 132kV Kohima-Wokha at 220/132 kV Zhadima (New Kohima Sub-station)" and "132kV D/C Transmission Line from Zhadima to Nagaland University along with 132/33kV, 2x25 MVA at Nagaland University Sub-station."

After the test charging, the lines will remain charged within Zhadima village; Nerhema, Phezha village; Thizama village; Meriema village; and Nagaland University's jurisdiction, stated a press release from the EE.

Accordingly, the EE cautioned the public against touching or approaching the mentioned transmission lines for safety purposes.
"Anybody doing so shall be doing at their own risk, and the Department of Power shall not be held responsible for any untoward incident whatsoever," the release added.

Meanwhile, to facilitate the test charging of the LILO line, the 132kV Kohima-Chiephobozou Transmission line will be under shutdown on May 14 from 7:30 AM to 09:30 AM. This will affect the power supply to Wokha, Tseminyu, Pughoboto, and Northern Angami Kohima.

The alternative source for providing power supply through the 132 kV Wokha-Sanis Transmission line to these areas has been disrupted due to the collapse of one 132kV Tower AP No. 16 near Riphyum Old area under Wokha District, the release said.
All consumers and the public in the affected areas are urged to cooperate and bear the inconvenience during the shutdown period, it added.
