
Wokha, November 15 (MExN): In an effort to properly manage the Public Health Centre (PHC) of Englan under Wokha district, a meeting was held at the PHC on October 25 where 28 people, including the Village Council Chairmen (VCC) and VDB Secretaries from all the villages of Englan range and PHC staffs attended. According to the minutes of the meeting released to the media by Dr. Mhajan Kikon, Medical Officer, Englan PHC, the main agenda of the meeting was to elect/select chairperson, Health Centre Managing Committee (HCMC) of the PHC and to reconstitute its members for a tenure of 3 years with effect from October 25, 2017 till October 25, 2020. M Wonchio Odyuo, VDB Secretary of New Riphyim Village was elected as the new chairperson of HCMC, Englan PHC. He assured his unconditional support and dedication to work for the development and progress of Englan PHC, according to the press release. Meanwhile, Nyimtsemo Odyuo, VCC of New Riphyim Village, expressed his unconditional support as one of the landowners of the PHC. Robin Kithan, chairman Yikhum Village Council suggested that the villages under Englan range be given a chance in terms for the post of HCMC chairperson. As a member of the HCMC, he assured to extend co-operation and support for the development of the PHC and simultaneously expected the employees of Englan PHC to be sincere in their duties. T. Khyothungo, chairman Ekhyoyan in support of the suggestion said the post of HCMC chairperson be rotated among the eight villages in the range. He emphasised that every village under Englan range should be given equal opportunity for the HCMC chairperson post. On the other hand, Yibemo Tungoe, chairman New Changsu expressed that instead of rotation a qualified and capable person should be given the preference for the post of HCMC chairperson for smooth functioning and management of the PHC in its up-gradation. Tsenimo, Pharmacist, Englan PHC pleaded for urgent support from the HCMC Members in the form of furniture like tables, chairs, benches etc. for the PHC as it functions through the support of and for the community. Meanwhile, P. Khangshio, Head GB, Englan Center requested the employees of Englan PHC to be regular and available at all times as their service is needed by the public of the range. The poor, needy and the aged people cannot practically go to Wokha for medical treatment because of which the State government has employed the staffs of the PHC, he added. By virtue of the post and as per the guidelines, village chairman and VDB secretary of every village under Englan range were selected as members of the HCMC. Other members of the committee are: two of the senior-most employees of the Health Centre – Tsenimo (Pharmacist) & Eyingbeni (ANM), Medical Officer in-Charge as Member Secretary, Chief Medical Officer of the district, Pastor of Englan Baptist Church.
