Enough stock available: Public urged not to panic

Head of Special Committee, COVID-19 Dimapur, Y Kikheto Sema, APC and Commissioner & Secretary, Agriculture along with DMC Administrator, Albert Ezung and DCP(Traffic) Jatila Jamir on Friday inspected various godowns of essential commodities in Dimapur. The officials expressed satisfaction with the availability of enough stock of essential commodities and appealed to the public not to resort to panic buying and said sale of fresh vegetables would be resumed by Saturday at Naga Shopping Arcade, Dimapur from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Kikheto appealed the public not to stockpile essential commodities for months stating that all essential goods will be arriving in the state from time to time. He also urged the public to always maintain social distance and to buy only their requirement.
He said there might have been initial apprehension about shortage of essential commodities but now stocks are arriving in double comparing to other days. Kikheto appealed people from other districts not to panic since there is sufficient stock for supply.
He thanked the businessmen who are confined within the containment areas of GS Road, Marwaripatti, Murgipatti etc for extending their support and cooperation. “Though they could not come out of the sealed area, they have been making all contacts with their respective supply chains to ensure that essential commodities continue to arrive in Dimapur,” he added. In this regard, Kikheto appreciated the role played by DMC, DCCI, GBs and other civil societies.
As for stocks lying in the sealed areas, he said that the administration after following the protocols and in coordination with the medical department would decide on it and is working on the matter.
The Special Committee appealed those people in quarantine to cooperate and bear with the authorities. “You may not get what you regularly and normally eat but we are trying to provide you the best that is available,” he said.
