DIMAPUR AUGUST 28 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) has urged Naga underground leaders, NGOs and all the Naga people who are working and supporting solution to the Naga political problem to be clear on the issue of Eastern Nagaland (under Myanmar). The ENSA stated that although ‘it may not be significant for the Naga Nation,’ Eastern Nagas also delivered their service and gave their best, ‘despite geographical barriers and untold miseries poured on their lives for supporting the Naga national cause.’
The ENSA felt that other Naga brothers treat their Eastern Naga brethren in a step-motherly way and also felt that because of their (Eastern Nagas) patience and silence, the people have taken them for granted. The association further stated that they don’t see any future hope for those Eastern Nagas who are in Myanmar, if the Naga leaders continue to ignore them. “Often we the Nagas blame and curse the British for their ‘divide and rule’ policy. But whether we are aware of what we are doing, keeping the division and injustice alive and renewed, we simply blame the dead men. We are not better than the British” stated in a release issued by the Vice President, T Mankhat Konyak and General Secretary, Y Khomong Khiamiungan of ENSA.
The ENSA urged the Naga people not to misunderstand their point since Naga Yuya (Tribal organization) and ENSA (students’ organization) are the only two civil organizations in Eastern Nagaland ‘because of high restriction’ imposed by the Junta government of Myanmar. “Poverty is the mother of all crimes and revolution as we know it. We believe that Nagas will not let the Eastern Nagas to commit another crime which may bring shame and defame the glory of the Nagas” the ENSA stated.
