Fire incidents in Dimapur and Wokha

A fire at Humtsoe Road, Vankhosung area Wokha lights up the sky on April 7.

 

DIMAPUR, APRIL 8 (MExN): Two fire incidents were reported from Wokha and Dimapur on April 7. 

 


In Wokha, a fire was reported at Humtsoe Road, Vankhosung area, Wokha at around 12:58 pm. Fire & Emergency Services mobilised a quick response team from Fire Station Wokha, which was co-incidentally on Helipad Duty at the time of the fire incident.

 


However due to difficulty of terrain and the enormity of the fire, several trips of fire tenders were utilized to contain the fire from spreading towards Helipad and Mission Compound, Vankhosung, which continued till midnight. 

 


The district administration, Police, SDRF, Home Guards, Civil Defence and public also joined the fire fighting with the fire personnel and brought the flames under control and prevented them from spreading further. 

 


Hundreds of acres of Jhum land and forest were destroyed in the fire incident. No casualty was reported. The response team was led by OC, Keleseho Stephen and Duty Commander, ASI, Hayang. 

 


In Dimapur meanwhile, a fire was reported in Veterinary Colony on April 7 at 9:35 pm. A Pucca house was severely damaged by the fire incident. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.  

 


Fire personnel and colony residents were able to bring the flames under control. The response team was led by Duty Commander, ASI, Khamlu Phom.
